Skills Used
To individualize treatment, I integrate different therapeutic approaches into my practice including cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), interpersonal therapy, psychodynamic theory and attachment theory.
Related skills I use are stress reduction skills, testing beliefs, exposure response prevention (ERP), mindfulness, eye movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR), distress tolerance skills and emotion regulation skills. In addition, I practice hypnotherapy to better assist those who desire pain relief, a deeper understanding of personal conflict or behavioral change.
Throughout the counseling process, I provide information on the mind/body connection as well as the therapeutic process itself. I strongly believe the more individuals understand the more willing they are to try new skills that support their goals. For more information about how I can help, read more about my approach.
